When organising your next camping trip, its important to find out if there are any rules or regulations for that state regarding camping and also the numbers of emergency services in that area. Below are a few bits of important information you’ll need for any trips you may be organising in the state of Victoria.
CAMPSITES
There are several campsites through-out Victoria, in reserves, parks and national forests. While these have a variety of amenities, its important to note that some of these sites may charge fees or require you to book ahead of your arrival. The Parks Victoria website has a great directory, listing every possible campsite in Victoria and a list of all the campsites which require you to book ahead.
RULES & REGULATIONS
Each campsite in Victoria will have their own rules and regulations regarding camping, please ensure you do your research and check your campsite/s, using the Parks Victoria campsite directory ahead of time.
ENVIROMENTAL CARE
It’s important that when you go camping you ensure that you leave your campsite in the same condition that you arrived. this protects our wildlife and forests but also lets others enjoy their experiences in the great outdoors. Below we have some suggestions on how you can maximise environmental care on your trip.
- Leave pets and firearms at home
- Light fires only in designated fireplaces, or use a gas or fuel stove
- Observe total fire bans
- Remember that all native plants and animals are protected
- Keep to roads and tracks
- Take your rubbish with you
